Project Overview
In the wake of many challenges in Liberia, motorcycle taxis, known as “pehn pehns” and their drivers have faced government bans and poor public perception because of various safety concerns. To assist motorcycle taxi drivers in their efforts to change these perceptions, we have developed and refined a curriculum that guides them in creating an interactive LED safety vest. As drivers work through the curriculum in publically accessible workshops, not only do they engage in solving their own issues, but help shape the state of wearable technology in Liberia.
My Role
I collaborated with a team of Georgia Tech graduate students in Industrial Design and Human Computer Interaction programs to research, conceptualize, design, and test a DIY toolkit for creating customized LED safety vests.
